Ray Armstrong, CIC, CWCA

Senior Account Executive
Ray Armstrong, CIC, CWCA

A good agent does much more than sell you an insurance policy. With 25 years as a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and a background as a Certified Public Accountant, Ray Armstrong has the experience and technical knowledge to assess your business environment and explain the resources available to resolve the complex challenges you face in your day-to-day operations.

Recognizing that suffering an uncovered loss today could mean going out of business tomorrow, Ray helps clients understand the hidden cost of risk and arrive at solutions that make them more attractive in the insurance marketplace. And he appreciates that no two businesses are exactly alike. By addressing each client’s unique needs within the context of the myriad other issues involved in running their business, he works to design programs customized to their strategic plans, goals and budget.

A graduate of Boston College with a degree in accounting and a Certified WorkComp Advisor (CWCA), Ray is an invaluable resource to the Sylvia Group team, as well as to our clients. Having previously served the agency as Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer, he has close working relationships with all departments, and his decades of community service on the SouthCoast give him insights to the region’s strengths and business climate.

Ray and his wife, Sylvia Group President and CEO Maureen Sylvia Armstrong, are longtime residents of Dartmouth, where they raised two sons: Andrew, a Sylvia Group partner and Account Executive, and Charlie, a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In addition to longtime roles as treasurer of the Dartmouth Football League and coach in the Dartmouth Youth Activities Association, Ray has given back to his community as a volunteer for the United Way of Greater New Bedford.
