Heather Heffernan
A member of the Sylvia Group team since 2012, Heather Heffernan is recognized for her skill and leadership not only within the agency but around the SouthCoast region and beyond.
In 2020, the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women (MAIW) named Heather its Member of the Year. A member of the Bristol Chapter of the MAIW since 2013, she served as Chapter Secretary in 2013-14 before becoming Chapter Treasurer the following year and adding the role of Treasurer for the entire state organization in 2016.
Heather's work with the MAIW is far from her only professional and civic activity beyond her considerable role at Sylvia Group.
A native of Indiana, she has embraced life on the SouthCoast, immersing herself in local professional and civic organizations, and taking advantage of the region's many recreational and entertainment offerings. She and her husband, Jason DeMedeiros, have been active supporters of regional nonprofits including the Buzzards Bay Coalition, the Children's Advocacy Center of Bristol County and New Bedford's Community Boating Center, as well as the local chapters of the American Cancer Society, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
In addition, Heather, a graduate of Xavier University's Williams College of Business and the Leadership SouthCoast program, has served on the Election Commission for the City of New Bedford since 2017.
