Well before she considered joining Sylvia Group, Kristen Edwards had built a strong working relationship with our Employee Benefits division. In various roles at such highly regarded companies as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Allways Health Partners and New York Life, she had come to recognize ours as an agency that shared her values of industry expertise and attention to detail, along with a passion for client service.
The respect was mutual. In multiple conversations over the past few years, I told Kristen that if she ever considered moving from the carrier side to an agency, we should talk. Earlier this year, we had that conversation, and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out.
A former college soccer captain, Kirsten is now a member of our team.
Her position as a Sylvia Group Account Executive enables Kristen to put her diverse background on the carrier side of the insurance and benefits industries to work meeting the diverse needs of the our clients. Her specialties include:
- Employee benefits programs
- Life insurance
- Individual and group financial services
- Medicare and open enrollment
- Retirement planning
- Long-term care insurance.
“I love the idea of taking a holistic approach, not just offering one product or service – having the capability to take different avenues in advising clients, ensuring the right fit, depending on their needs,” Kristen said. “To get there, I focus on education, so the client has a baseline understanding and comfort level given the complexity of insurance through basic terms – no industry jargon.”
Leading the way comes naturally to Kristen, a three-sport captain at Wakefield (MA) Memorial High School and captain of the women’s soccer team at Salem State University, from which she graduated with a degree in business administration and management.
After graduation, she spent more than 10 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield in various roles, four years at Allways as an Account Executive working primarily with medium- and large-size companies, and one year at New York Life specializing in life insurance and financial services.
Recently relocated to Dartmouth, MA, after living in the Boston area, Kristen has served as a volunteer with Cradles to Crayons, a Massachusetts-based organization that provides essential items to children 12 and younger in homeless or low-income situations, and with the Boys & Girls Club of Boston’s Charlestown Club. Her interest in giving back to the community is just one more quality that makes her a valued addition to our team.
